Hello a sort of newbie here

Featured Replies

Found this forum via a youtube video of BossFox's TTrs engined Yeti......Brilliant do like a good sleeper.

I've been modding cars all my life, had a few VW's and they have always been pretty reliable. My last VW

was a remapped jetta, sold it at 145k its still going strong. Anyway I changed my job about a year ago and

about 3 months ago I bought a C220cdi Merc, its broke down twice and at this present moment is sitting on my drive

useless. So tomorrow I have an appointment in my local Skoda dealer to have a look at this

https://www.lookers.co.uk/skoda/used-cars/9783162-s-koda-yeti-2.0-tdi-cr-140-elegance-4x4-5dr/

I wanted one with sat Nav, heated mirrors and a few extra's, then if its alright I'll see what deal can be done

and I'll be a Yeti owner :)   Then all it will need is a remap plus looking to see what else people on here do to them.

Seems a lively forum which is always good, for the past 10/12 years I've been into Jap stuff I still have a Mitsubushi RVR

which I've played about with. Std they are 200ish hp, mine will run about 550. Basically its an EVO with a mini MPV body.

I have to say I have upset some BM owners in it.

Anyway enough dribble from me, I'm going to have a nose round the forum.

A warm welcome to the Forum !  How old was the Merc out of interest?

Still quite new.  The really bad years were 1998 to 2006 when they got into bed with Chrysler.  I thought they'd improved but the paintwork still lets them down.  I ran a 1987 W124 250D from new until 1997 when I foolishly sold it at 300K miles in 2007.  They were unbustable !

Thats right the W124's were built really really well, I find the problems with newish cars the electronics control too much. Then you get a sensor

on the blink the poxy engine goes into limp mode.......I used to run a Honda CRV petrol, totally reliable pity they suck petrol.

Thank you very much, on the subject of the Yeti I had a look at the one in my local Skoda dealer, Its had yards of paint

the engine covers missing and the clutch is like a paddle clutch on/off. Personally I'd say its been abused, the worst shock was the Sat Nav

what a piece of rubbish my Garmin stick to the windscreen job is better.

OH, not good news , keep looking the  right one will come along , just take your time .
