Satnav ECE1 update not working

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have successfully updated my Amundsen satnav data twice since new (2016), the last time being October 2018. Tried today to update to ECE1 2019/20 but just could not get the car to recognise the data. Reloaded the SD card with the previous update and all is fine. I guess it could be a corrupted download but aside from that does anyone have any ideas?

As an aside I'd say that the Amundsen satnav is the big letdown in this car. In France particularly it was just awful, bordering on useless.  Kept telling us the Autoroute was closed and trying to divert us off it. After the first long detour I discovered that it was interpreting closed sliproads to service stations etc as Autoroute closures so ignored it. Many accident hold up alerts too which proved to have been cleared up long since. Also misreading our position as being on parallel roads and leading us off onto them if I wasn't careful. Tried different combinations of settings but to no avail. Not good at all I'm afraid.

The TMC data transmitted in France is worse than useless, it's this that causes errors such as accidents and road closures long since cleared - the worst example I have experienced was a road under construction closure that actually was completed over a YEAR previously (this was on an Audi sat nav so it's nit just Skoda sat nav that are affected).

Personally, I always turn off dynamic routing when visiting France.

Thanks for your reply PetrolDave. Interesting observations though I must say I have never experienced this in France having previously used an app on a Nexus 7 tablet and a Qashqai built-in satnav. Hey ho, such is life...........
