btw has any ever drive BEHIND an Acc car ??  it drives you mad with the braking lights coming up every 1-2 seconds    ( i do drive behind my car twice a week ;- )      )

Try setting ACC setting to Eco in drive mode, set follow distance to 1-2 (shortest).

Braking kills fuel economy. The accelerator pedal is the money pump, pump money into kinetic energy; the brake pedal is the money burner, burning your kinetic energy as heat. I've found it doesn't brake much unless the car in front are REALLY slowing down with a big speed delta.

You can change the ACC mode in the infotainment screen to make it less aggressive, I initially felt the same that it accelerated too fast so I changed the setting in Individual mode and it's much more like I would accelerate now.

Have you tried setting ACC mode to Eco mode? It slows down and speeds up more gradually. Might also solve fuel eco complain for nitro2.

I drive with ACC in Eco mode all the time. I find it accelerates slower than what I usually drive, but I slow down slower. So it's a good, safe middle ground.

Apologies in the delay for response - just back from driving the length of the country. Thanks for the advice, never seen that option b4.  Where about are these settings? My car is set for individual personalisation, but within that I can;t find anywhere to set ACC to eco. I can see where I can set the distance, and where to maintain last distance settings ( I never knew that existed either - it's useful) but can't see any ECo setting.

For what it's worth I drove South on M73 / 74 / 6 / 5 with both lane assist and ACC set all the way. It just confirmed my hatred for the system, I find it more work than ordinary cruise.

on the return journey North I was a tad more savvy to it's idocyncracies so would pull out to overtake much sooner than I would normally. Despite setting cruise at 75mph, it still had the effect of  *ing off those speeding in the ouside lane. ( which I kinda enjoyed  :D )

But I hit bigger troubles. I'm not sure what the cause was, but on three occasions whislt overtaking large artic lorries in the outside lane, an alarm would sound, the car slowed and some red symbol appeared briefly on dashboard ( I was too busy taking control of the car to notice what it read). Bloody frightening. The sun was setting in the West so I can only guess the shadow of the trucks were causing the system to throw a wobbly.

As for lane assist, well that was turned off too. If it kept the car in the middle of the lane then fair enough, but it wanders from side-to-side. Worse still, if your driving on tighter motorway bends ( the section from Killington Lake to Tebay services being a good example), the car gets too close to the verge for comfort - it's most definately NOT in the centre of the lane.

I really do hate the system with a passion. The only benefit I had was being able to reply to a text message on the infotainment system  -  but I guess that's not what lane assist / ACC was designed for.

I personally think these assistive technology is worse than semi-autonomous tech like in Tesla autopilot. Rather than simply monitor the car, both the car and yourself is in control, causing confusion and frustration.

RTFM - Read the manual!

The lane assist system is not Tesla Autopilot, it assists you to keep you within the lane, it does not do lane centering.

Please do take some time to understand your car's assistive technology before endanger anyone else on the road.

In drive mode select, where you select Sport/Normal/Eco/Individual, you can select ACC mode under individual.

Alternatively, try driving in Eco drive mode (DSG should now display E rather than D in the dashboard), see if ACC behaviour changes.

Yeah, echoing the above. Lane Assist is NOT autopilot. The system is behaving exactly as programmed. It’s not there to drive the car for you so you can kick back with a latte. It’s to prevent you from drifting into another lane. That is.

In the motorway section I use as an example, I'm not stupid by thinking it's autopilot, but on a tight bend the wheel is resisting being kept in the middle of the lane and wants to move to the side. It's not 'assisting' me, it's 'resisting' me.  The system works perfectly well on a straight road but when it comes to bends the car wants to go from side to side - on sharper bends, it want's to take the car towards the verge. I find it much easier and less effort keeping in the middle of the lane with the system switched off.

Nope, don't have ACC mode on my mode select.  I have my car setup for Individual - all available settings are ECO apart from steering which is set to 'sport' (Eco being too lightweight for my liking).

EDIT: ignore above - just found the ACC setting - couldn't see it for looking at it. However it was already set to ECO.

that's your anti collision system indicating you are about to  .....................

this system is kicking in every now and then without apparent reason ( i am driving the third car with this option ) .

And still it slams the brakes when someone overtakes me , or takes the exit on the motorway  ( you should see the reactions of the car behind you ...............priceless ) .

i had it re-aligned on my previous octy twice by the dealer and again needless to say ............it did not change a ...k .

my 2019 car has despite the new position of the detection unit ( previous 2 cars had it in the under-grille ) the same b..... behaviour .
