'Door Open' red light is now on permanently.

Featured Replies

Dear all,

started today. Driving along and the red 'door open' symbol illuminated on the dash along with a ping or two.

Came on and off during the journey with a few pings. Now stays on permanently and pings now and then.

All doors and hatch are securely closed.

It stops me locking the car with the remote key, but I can still lock it with the actual key.

Anyone faced this ? All clues, pointers and advice are of course appreciated.

Sounds like the microswitch in the door lock either needs adjusting or replacing.

BTW Skoda only sell a complete door lock, but several owners have successfully just adjusted/replaced the switch.

Thanks. Looks like I will have to remove the door panels to get at the switch.

The question is whether I can be bothered :(

Are there any instructions out there on how to remove door panels ? These things can be fiddly and easily damaged without the right tools,

cheers again

I'd try a good spray of Double you dee for tea (lol) or something similar around the switch and door locking mechanism first, before pulling things apart.
