Battery removal

Featured Replies

Hi all,

How do I remove the battery from my 2.0 fabia?. It seems to have a jacket around it and sits in the plastic battery box but I can't see how to get it out?. I presume all fabia's are the same.

I think my battery is coming to the end of it's life as I'm having problems with no power steering for the first few miles, I believe the pump is electric and not belt driven. Also my lights flicker sometimes.

thanks :)

13mm bolt down the front

Then lift it up and out once the terminals are off.

Yeah it's clamped with a small bit of metal on the front lip of the battery. Took me a while to refit it, but then my hands were frozen at the time

Thanks

Anyone know whether the battery could be the cause of power steering problem?.

It's goes away after a few miles, was wondering whether the battery doesn't have enough power to operate the pump until it has charged up over a few miles?

Sounds plausible as the battery takes a big hit when you start the car and the power steering is electro-hydraulic so also draws a lot of juice. Worth measuring the voltage across the battery - if it's normal then you might want to get the car on a diagnostic rig to see if the PAS sensors have logged any faults....
