ABS delete

Featured Replies

Hi guys. I have a question about my other car, namely a vw Lupo 3L 1.2Tdi. I thought I might ask here because it is the same tech and comes from the same stable as my Vrs... I have to remove ABS because it is converted to manual and ABS is not working nor will ever work. It used to be controlled by the gearbox ECU, which is now not needed any more. So, I will be ditching the ABS module, and will  obviously have to deal with the ABS light on the dash, a handbrake warning and a code stored after the conversion. Is there a way to "sign out" ABS using VCDS and be free of errors? Or do I have to go to a tuner AGAIN to have it mapped out, if that is a possibility? Cheers :)

Just like your post on the ross-tech forums, the best start would be to post a full autoscan - ideally one before and after the gearbox swap if possible.

Was Just checking under the hood. The ABS module wiring goes straight to the gearbox Ecu. The loom than branches off for the engine ecu...So go figure.... with the gearbox ecu removed or its link with the engine ecu severed....The only logical solution is some fancy elaborate hi-tech rewiring job and using a 1.4Tdi loom or something along the line.... Then coding...

Have you checked the wiring diagrams for manual and automatic cars rather than just making assumptions?

Official source is: https://erwin.skoda-auto.cz/erwin/showHome.do

Looking at the wiring diagrams on Elsawin, the ABS module gets it's speed info via the CANbus from the speedo unit and that get's it's speed input from the separate sensor on the gearbox, that you will need regardless of what type of gearbox you have, other than that there is no direct connections from the ABS to the Gearbox ECU
