Wear gloves? :giggle:

200 grit on a belt sander should do the trick.

If it’s a recent scratch it will “blend in” I’ve had them before and eventually they flatten out and almost disappear

I have the same thing on mine from the rings of my wife.
As above the seem to dissapear after a while (i'm guess filled with sweat/dirt(dust) because it comes back every now & then when the weather is warm & you get those kind of tiny dirty black flakes that seem to rub off onto your hands...

The scratch is new, and indeed in time with dirt I do not notice it anymore, but after I clean the steering wheel it's there again :(
