So long and thanks for all the fish

I picked my Ibiza up on Saturday, so the Fabia has gone off to auction. It's been a fantastic little car, but here are a few thoughts on nearly 3 years, and 27,500 miles, of ownership.

The 1.2 TSI engine is an absolute gem. Really impressive, my long term average has been in the mid to high 40s, with mostly either high-speed motorway cruising or city driving. The problems I've had have been with the stop/start- I'm definitely not convinced that it works properly. On Saturday morning driving down to get the new Ibiza, it still didn't kick in when I stopped in Bath having driven all the way from Manchester, which should be plenty of time to charge up the battery.

The interior still looks new- there's a slight bit of wear on the leather (pleather?) around the plastic bit on the top of the gearstick, but otherwise the car still looks pretty new. Apart from needing a clean! The lack of one-touch windows was frustrating, but they've fixed that with the facelift. The silver brushed aluminium effect trim across the dash looks fantastic- far better than what's in some much more expensive cars (here's looking at you, BMW). It's a shame that they don't use something similar in the Polo, I think it would look very smart.

If anyone goes and buys a bright red SE TSI 90, registration starting with HJ16, with a front centre armrest and a spare tyre, look after it for me :D

Probably a better plan would be to check in here now and again as well as being in the Cupra forum.  I initially joined this forum as my wife had bought a 2002 9N Polo new and no one was posting much of a technical nature in that forum for that newer version of Polo, plenty for the older 6N Polo though.

Mind you the Cupra forum has a bit more or attracts a bit more in the way of technical discussion/help.

Oh absolutely!

Have you met the 'Man in the Shack' with The Lord as company yet?

Thanks AG Falco
