Featured Replies

Was at the trackday today at knockhill and what a day it was!!! even though it had rained and the track was damp still a great day :D.

some pretty serious cars there too rangeing from lotus elise's to 2 400+bhp cossies!!!!

had to stop off at jim at star performance in the way there for some racing brake fluid and he had in a couple of rather tasty evo 8's

first car i went out in was the leon to see how the new track is and have to say the new surface is impress, the car was able to carry the same amount of speed from the corners that it did in the dry last summer :D also the ickle elises werent pulling away at all on the straights and coming up to the hairpin we were overtaking by the escort cosworth,he managed to pull away out of the hairpin but up the straight he wasnt pulling away once we were up to speed :D.went to talk to the driver once we got back in the pit lane and asked him how much power he was running and he said 400bhp at the wheels!!!!! (thats around 480 at the crank) i then asked him if he was running it at full boost cause we kept up with him in a 215bhp leon and he just gave me this look ,then went over and had a chat with the owner over the evo7 and he was saying his wife said he had to get a sensible family car.....so he got that and got it chipped and a full exhaust and was now had 380bhp :D and so had to ask for a passenger ride, and he didnt half go for it  started chasing the exige and the escort for a few laps and coming up to the hairpin the exige ran wide on to the gravel in then quickly moved over to the left of the track where we were  so he floored it and overtook him on the right which you arent allowed to do but had to and ended up getting blackflagged :(

then went to have a chat again with the escort driver as he promised me a passenger run in it so off out i went in that and OH MY GOD!!! that thing was something else  all that was inside was 2 seats, full rollcage and a dashboard, ive never experienced anything like that kind of power before, and the the traction and grip out of the hairpin and clarks was unbelieveable,i was too scared to say anything :o had a look at the speedo going just under the bridge and it was reading just over 110mph before he started braking which was still a good 25m from the 100m board, got back to the pits and people were saying it was shooting out 4ft long flames from the exhaust, just after we got back into the pits the session was redflagged cause someone had went off(turned out to be the evo)so again got chatting with the serria guys and asked for a passenger ride in that and they said yes :D the driver said it had something like 450bhp and had on semi slick tyres which should be intresting in the damp......and it lasted just under a lap :o first hot lap braked late going into duffers and the car got sideways,it then seemed to hold sideways like it was about to straighten up but nop back end then just went all the way round and i looked out the passenger window and seen a tyre wall coming towards me rather quickly!!! so shut my eyes and held onto something waiting for a rather hard impact but luckily it went into the slip road bit but damage was done :( front splitter had been damaged and was dragging alone the ground and a punture, but what a day  best track day so far and cant wait for the april one :D

Well that little lot certainly deserves a reply! Is that Leon your motor? Looks just like mine (except mine has 110 tdi lump in:thumbdwn: ):D

Wish I had the spare cash to go track daying !

Or is that silver vrs in your avatar yours? I just bought some s3 wheels off Ebay to go on my next fabia (looking at walkies - possibly) but checked out a bank staement of my wifes and felt sick:eek:

Remembering why I sold the last one.......bitterly regret it and your vid still does my head in... my 2.5 year old boy loves it too!

So which motor is yours?

cheers

none:O

dont drive yet and if i did couldnt afford to own or run a car!! still looking for an old rapid though :o

leon is owned by a guy called dave on seat enthusiasts who lives near to me and usually if theres a trackday up at knockhill hes kind enough to give me a lift there and back  his is has been remapped (up from 180 to 220ish) and had the suspension FULLY overhauled in november.

trackdays i would say didnt seem to expensive(but then what would i know i was paying for them:rolleyes: )

as long as you dont push your car too much to the limit and not extremely fast(just ask matchmaker :P ) then you shouldnt break anything.

on that trackday we only used around half a tank of optimax going from dunfermline to knockhill and then back to glasgow, although saying that the rear brakes had totally went by the next day,oh well porsche cayenne front brakes and ECS 308's on the rear come may  .

next track day is on thursday so might need to ask mannyo really nicely for a passenger right in the boxster :)

Looking good, i'm booked on Thursday, see you there.

Trackdays are adictive arent they, there is something about the atmosphere, the smell, the noise and so on.

Looks like you had a good but damp day, I guess the evo took an excursion across the grass.

Well the sooner you get that Rapid the better! Heard some say they handle like Porsches what with the engine being in the back? (have got that right haven't I?) By the way since you mention Mannyo runs a boxster (?) noticed a few Briskodians run Porsches as second motors:rofl:

Re spare cash for track daying - Wifes spending habits dont help + 'mini me' to keep clothed and fed hence sale of vRs and purchase Leon high miler! Would love to have a go at a track day - saw my first Fabia vRS at Goodwood - in good company with Nobles , Panteras, Scoobs and Caterhams and one flying mark 1 golf gti that looked as though it was turbo charged it was overtaking Caterhams!

Maybe one day though! (as I said mini me likes your Fabia Movie who knows what he'll be into once he grows up!)

With your enthusiasm I'm sure you'll be racing your Rapid before long:thumbup:

thanx :D

it is just like mannyo says, theres something about trackdays thats just so addictive, that once you go to one,you cant wait for the next one and the one after that.

looks like a good day. shame i cant make these ones, maybe later in the summer.

hopefully get a dry one for my first go, and a new clutch.
