Key fob eats batteries

Featured Replies

One of my key fobs for my 1.2Tsi (110) Rapid has started to drain batteries in around three weeks.  Anyone else experienced this or happen to know if there’s a fix for it (other than replacing it)?

Typically it started just as the manufacturer’s warranty expired....

I have had 3 skoda cars with KESSY over a period of 7 years and the Fob battery only needed changing on one occasion. This was after about 18 months of use and hence I believe that your Fob is faulty.

As only one fob drains the battery I had satisfied myself already that it was faulty, I didn’t know if it was a common issue or whether there might be a simple fix though?

Not sure I can be bothered to have the inevitable battle with the dealer to try and sort a replacement - they will just change the battery and claim it’s fine, which it will be for three weeks...

Just had my battery go as well (at 18 months old).

20 miles from home in a public carpark, unable to start it or  to lock it and leave it.

Thank goodness for Youtube. Found out how to lock it and the emergency start too.

Carefully put a new 2025 in, I'll see how long it lasts.  (Apparently it's possible to get a 2016 or 2032 in and damage the fob though)
