No exhaust valves on my 272 :-(

Featured Replies

I assumed my MY19 272 sportline plus would have the valved exhausts , I just had a look under the car and they are single exit :-(

feel very cheated now,

Any MY19 272 owners that have the valved dual exit exhausts?

It will do. I assume your car is in normal? They won't be open in normal.

Try starting the car with the window open, you'll hear them clunking open and shut.

Or, leave it in sport and they'll be open

Did you just run outside and take that pic :-D. Cheers, I was telling my mate at work today that it had a valved exhaust but we couldn't hear any difference when I put it in sport, no wonder lol

I did yes :D To be honest, I can't hear a jot of difference with mine open or closed

I confirm this. I noticed the lack of valves on my 272 the first week when the car was on a lift for an alloy swap. Mine, like the OP's car is a "2nd phase" MY19 (manufactured after the 2018/11).

So far we knew the difference between the two MY19 periods was the Drive Mode (not DSG) reverting to Normal at every start-up but this one is more significant, even if the difference is small between on and off.

In fact this seems more like a model year change, I wonder what else we might discover on the way...

Think it's more when it's at full chat you'd hear the difference , mines only a week old maybe post wltp cars no longer get valves

At least!

Frankly, I'm not too fussed about exhaust noise, but the fact this happened completely under the radar between cars of the same model year even is what's puzzling me. I mean the pre November 2018 MY19's already have the GPF's and dual port injection delete so how they managed to keep the valved exhaust whereas anything after November didn't, I have no logical explanation about.

Would be interesting to hear what Skoda has to say though...

Disappointing though isn't it, I was under there looking if I had a resonator delete like the post wltp golf r has, sadly I still have a resonator and also no valves or quad exit exhaust

Yes, that might be the case. The sound proofing is maybe something to do with it? Or exhaust tuning from Skoda?

Mine is 100% post WLTP, I waited 6 months for it. I think the build date was October. I downloaded the car spec from Erwin just before I collected it. I'll double check to be sure though

All the quietness for you sir, you're driving a limo after all... :tongueout:

As far as I know R estate also kept its resonator, it's only the hatch that had it deleted so I guess the res delete was applied to the "race" variants. It's an easy fix nonetheless but even if I wouldn't mind the valved exhaust, I'm rather glad I still got a mid resonator.

At least we still got all wheel drive and a latest IS38 turbo though (I checked because you can't obviously trust these guys... :D)

Boydee, you mind taking a look at the front of the engine cover and seeing whether you still have dual injection too and give us all a good shock?? Oh and how about those bad boys:

Ever seen them under your car too?

Definitely not got dual injection. I've got a DNUA engine code. Give me 5 and I'll go have a look see

:whew:

I was joking, it wouldn't be possible to have a 272 DNU engine without the GPFs!

Or would it...?

That's the best I can get without jacking it up. They are there though

Good, we can all relax for now (till the next discovery...)

Still, I think I'm going out to quantify the JB4 effect on 0-60 times just to forget my non-valved exhaust... :D

My red box arrives tomorrow , not sure if 150 miles on the clock is too soon to fit it though, might hang on until about 600 miles

:D

I'm sure it's more psychological as I've known of modern cars being tuned as soon as they leave the factory with no different behaviour than others, but I still kept myself from giving it the beans till almost 1000km even though I installed the unit @ 500km on the clock. Good luck resisting!

Hi newbie 69, what alloys did you fit

I have l and k MY 272 opted for standard 18s.

Now thinking of supernova 19s.

Hey, have you checked my signature by any chance?  There might be something interesting there for you :)

I fitted a set of full black Pretorias I had from my GTI as I am a sucker for full black wheels, but the gloss black Supernovas do look very good also. If I didn't have that extra set already I would have probably sticked with them.

I have a proposal...we could exchange; trick valves for virtual cockpit.  You can keep the 7th gear and your recycled DPF though

I'll be honest, they don't make the car much more vocal anyway.  Some cackles would be nice on a downshift (in Sport mode) BUT...I'm not 17 and don't frequent Nando's car park and I think it would spoil the character of the Superb (but I still want cackles )

Naaah, I love my virtual cockpit... and my 7th gear just as much :tongueout:. 220km on the highway the other day with an average speed of 70mph and I got 38mpg on a 1600kg 360bhp car with just 600miles on the clock, not too bad?

I get consistently better economy than my lighter but only 6speed DSG GTI on every trip bigger than 6-8km.
