I have a Mk2 Octavia facelift 1.4tsi DSG Elegance with maxi-dot and it's fitted with a auto sensor, however I have my garage turn on my auto headlight function and I have changed the switch to a auto headlight one, but still it's not working, why? Please can someone help or put us in touch with someone who can help on Guernsey?

No need for caps lock.

Remove the light switch from the dashboard and count the wires in the connector. If possible, take a couple of pictures too - at a guess, pin 2 won't have a wire.

A VCDS autoscan would be helpful too.

sorry didn't realise the cap lock was on, but thanks for the advice, if it is missing wires, where do these need to go?

There is only 9 wires, is there one missing?

Pin 2 is missing the required wire.

A job that I have to do soon, like you I have the new auto- light switch and I also bought some spare cables with pins attached, just need to find the motivation.

my local dealer want supply the extra wire, so where can I get one?

AliExpress.

Yup, that missing wire will be causing your issues.

It connects pin 2 on the headlight switch to T52aa/20 on the BCM.

- That's connector A (probably black) pin 20

- The BCM is in the drivers footwell and will have three large connectors (black, white, brown)

The dealership should be able to order the correct repair wire. They probably have the correct crimps/wire in stock so if you ask nicely they should be able to make one to length.

I'm not 100% sure on the crimps but this is probably correct: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/142411622072

Please can you give us some more information on what this bcm looks like and if this is a easy job

Put your head in the drivers foot well and look above the pedals. It's a black 7 inch (ish) square box about 1 inch thick with three large connectors. They should be black, white and brown.

It's easy to add the wire by taking the connectors apart. I'm sure a half decent garage could do it in 10 minutes :-)
