RS Reflector Bar

Recommended Posts

I've just fitted a RS Reflector Bar to my L&K, which I think improves the rear end appearance.

There are 3 parts involved, total cost from my local dealer inc vat - £91.63:

Protective bar - 565807423A9B9             - £58.34 ex VAT

         Reflector - 565945103                       - £9.01 ex VAT

         Reflector - 565945104                       - £9.01 ex VAT

Fitting does not require the rear bumper to be removed.  There is some minor modification involved in the fitting as the reflector studs protrude through the rear of the bar, that is not beyond the means of an average d-i-yer with a 13mm drill and a dremel taking around 1/2 hour, simply because the RS bumper is not quite the same as other Kodiaq rear bumpers.

(Yes, it's due a first wash!) :giggle:

How did you remove/replace the reflectors in the corners? I  have a new set of superskoda.com blacked out versions and will get my Kodiaq on Saturday. You say I can replace the reflectors without removing the bumper? Just a matter of gently pulling the old ones off?

Looks good!

Think there is a distinct lack of chrome on the rear though in general.

A small strip between the rear lights would lift the look of the tailgate a lot.

Thoughts?

The corner reflectors are completely unaffected and remain in situ, it's only replacement of the "grey" bar immediately below the tailgate between the corner reflectors.

There are 3 parts involved, one a "mounting" bar, replacing the existing grey honeycombed bar, to which are then affixed the 2 jointed reflector pieces. Yes you could just buy the "centre piece" alone, ie the "mounting" bar but you would have difficulty wrapping it. From another forum, the protective "mounting" bar looks like this:

Yes, the same parts (including illustrative photos) are available here: https://www.skodaautoteile.de/shop/kodiaq/außenausstattung/#cc-m-product-13199769236

However they are charging 179,00 € excluding shipping costs, whereas the price of £91.63 in my original post is the full retail price inc VAT collected from my local Skoda dealer.

Good morning, first of all, excuse my ENGLISH, I am using the GOOGLE translator. I am an owner of a KODIAQ 1.4 TSI ACTIVE in SPAIN, I have seen your page and specifically what they talk about this article, and I am very interested in it, because I think it looks great, but I have several questions. According to the page https://ifinterface.com/prog/car/cp2/inprog.php several pieces appear in the car, in the rear bumper, Would it be necessary to change the number 13 ?, the 12 I think that if it is the one that is left out and is the one that is seen, If so, how much would that piece cost? because 12 is clear to me its price, but 13 does not. Would someone in the forum have changed that piece? or there would be a kind of instructions on how to change it. the centerpiece, are two or one whole? Thank you very much for your attention. and excuse my discomfort

If I'm reading the previous posts correctly, the new reflective strip replaces part no. 12.

Part number 13 remains in place, but needs to be drilled / adjusted to allow the new reflective strip to be fixed to it.

I went for a silver strip to match the silver effect plastic already fitted to the Scout model...

With kind thanks to Ralf Braumann for the photos, here's hoping this helps clarify fitting:

1. Lever out and then pull slowly backwards:

2. As it is “naked”:

3. Mark holes for clips, drill holes and mill out with Dremel or similar:

4.  Protective bar complete with the 2 reflector halves - total fitting time about 30mins:

I wonder how long before the makers of that strip (Milotec..?) do one with the reflector instead of the aluminium look?

I like the idea on ones that wouldn't require drilling - makes it easier to put the car back to stock if selling/trading.

Easy enough to put back to stock as the grey honeycomb one simply covers the holes behind!

so can buy the 2 reflector pieces without the mounting bar if you fancy a bit of dremelling?  £20 is not too bad to give it a shot.  How accurate do you have to be with your cutting?

Looks good - I may think about a chrome bar for our L&K, did you source from aliexpress?

Cheers,

Matt

No need to make holes into your car! Yes, the new bar with the red reflectors doesn't want to 'click in' fully. The reason are the clips of the reflector, which are a little longer then necessary, when clipping into the black bar. However, you really don't have to make any changes to the plate section under the plastic bar. Just shorten slightly (0,5 mm - sharp knife, file) those red clips when they are clipped into the black bar and push the complete bar with the reflectors in place. You don't even have to shorten the clips in the edges -  there's enough space.
