front brakes

Featured Replies

Got a problem that i just cannot solve, Front brakes under heavy braking, There is a lot of rumbling noise and vibration like warped disks but they are brand new ATE disks and Bosch pads. When i changed them i cleaned everything, carriers, slider pins greased etc, But problem still persists, Its mainly The front driver side wheel, They both get hot (new calipers both sides) but the drivers side is a little bit hotter after braking..Any ideas.. Thanks..

ABS sensor rings?

Although iirc that tended to cause the grumbles  more at lower speeds. Still might worth checking them.

If they are "sticking out" too far i think they rub in something (its while since i read the last thread on them) which would be generating heat..

Proper explanation..

Late 2017 I had to replace both OS calipers due to them sticking, predominantly the front. Local (respected) garage carried out the work as Skoda dealer couldn't book me in for a fortnight.

Things were fine initially, but got the same burning smell after several long journeys (90% of my journeys are about 3 miles), so took it back to the garage who stated they had removed, cleaned and lubricated everything. Again, everything fine initially, but after a really long journey (85 miles) the issue returned.

Booked into local Skoda dealership who stripped cleaned and lubricated everything. The mechanic who carried out the work stated he sees a lot of brake work come in after owners have taken their vehicles elsewhere. He stated it was normally down to the work not being lubricated (he may have said greased) the way Skoda recommended.

Over a year later, no issues. I did have to replace the NS calipers, but that's a different issue!

Thanks for the replies, I'll have a look at the ABS rings and re lubricated the brakes while everything is stripped down again and see what happens..Thanks again

My OSF (drivers) side brake always throws out more brake dust than the NSF as I can see it on the alloys. Both calipers have been replaced. Both discs and pads too. All lubed and move smoothly on the pins. ABS has been bled with VCDS. Heavy braking in a straight line.

I just put it down to one of those things and spend a little longer washing that wheel.

Damned annoying though
