Window Rattle

Featured Replies

When driving over rough road and closing the door i can hear the window rattle quite bad, it seems as though it is loose.

I can usually play about with the window to get the rattling to stop by moving the window up and down again to try get it in the perfect position and it will stop but whenever the window is down at all it will rattle.

i did think the window regulator may crap its self when i first got the car and noticed the rattle but its been doing it for about a year and a half now and the window regulator still works fine which is lucky i guess

as whenever a passenger gets out the car and slams the passenger door too hard i always cringe at the noise as it sounds as though the window is about to either drop or smash.

Any ideas how i could stop this from happening? I have tried searching the forum for posts about a loose window or rattly window but can't seem to find anything on it.

Forgot to mention but its only the passenger window that rattles and i do have wind deflectors if that makes any difference.

Have u taken door panel off and had a look? One of my rivets had snapped causin a wobble (noticed it when sealing my doors)

SOLVED! whipped the door car off today and actually found out my passenger window regulator is bolted on whereas my drivers one is actually riveted, this car must have had a passenger door of a pre facelift vRS, however this had nothing to do with the rattle.

For anyone wondering how i did it:

I removed the two rubber bungs on the left and right on the panel and wound the window down till i saw the bolts that are on the window carriers and i actually found that one of them was very loose, I used a 10mm nut spinner and tightened them up and the rattling was gone!

Hopefully this can help anyone else that is having the same problem as i was

Be careful when getting the rubber circle bits back on as you do have to give it a bit of force and in doing so my finger slipped and went straight into the raw metal circle and gave me a pretty deep cut.. silly me.
