Another rant about a dash rattle

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I realise there are loads of posts about dash rattles, but i thought i would rant anyway and see if it rings any bells for anyone for a (hopefully) easy fix!

My vRS has done about 100miles now, and a rattle seems to be eminating from the passenger side air vent/glovebox area when im going along...i actually just tried turning the stereo up this morning but i could still hear it :P

Has anyone else had similar and is it a DIY fix? Or should i just book it in to the dealer (who seem to be pretty competent, but i have'nt needed to try them out yet!)

I don't seem to have any other creaks/rattles yet, so im hoping ill get this one fixed before any more start :(

Thanks.

Dealer job first. Give em a chance to impress you. 9 times out of ten they wont for rattles, unless it is really obvious. Too many things it could be - after that do a bit of detective work and using a passenger as your side-kick locate the problem and then see what you can do...

If taking the dealer route take the technician for a drive and point out the noise - that way you are both looking for same problem!

HTH

I've got same rattle and the dealer didn't fix it when it went in for a service (Not blaming them as it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack). I've had the end panel off and the dash is mounted on a cantilever bracket which has some flex in it I'm going to try and tighten this up first

Let me know how you get on pal, i don't expect the dealer to be able to sort it which is why i would prefer the DIY now...waste time at dealer later route. ;)

Ive got the same problem, mine is the glovebox door, dont really know how to go about fixing it tbh.
