Superb thoughts - 3 months in

Featured Replies

So after my rather disappointing f10 5 series ownership experience how does the Superb measure up after a few months?

In a nutshell, this car is the best I have ever owned. I can't think of any other car that does so much, so well, for the money.

Top of the list is refinement.  The 1.4ACT is a brilliant little engine, quick, frugal, but most of all, so smooth and quiet. You hardly know when the S/S kicks in, and more than once I have seen the car at 5000rpm simply because I have forgotten to change gear, no noise or to remind you.  As some of you know I have added soundproofing to the boot and rear arches, and road noise is now almost non existent.  The ride comfort is spot on too, more so than the BMW, and this combined with the silence makes you feel like you are wafting along in a much, much more expensive car.

Of course the space in fantastic and even in my humble SE spec it has everything I need, ACC is also a boon.  I have never wished for anything beyond the standard spec of the car.  Build quality is great, solid door thud, perfect panel gaps, etc.

I love that parts are cheap, so if something does need replacing it is no the end of the world, new pads and disks €180 fitted.  The BMW needed a new head unit - €1300.

I really don't know how they have done it, and bar something unforeseen I will be keeping it for many years. She really is an exceptional car.

I'm picking up a 161 L&K 190 DSG on Wed or Thur........depends when Sheehy's have it ready for me. It's my bosses ex-pcp car, he picked up his new 191 L&K 150 DSG this morning. Needless to say, I am really looking forward to it.
