ABS after new bearing

Recommended Posts

Evening all,

I had a new bearing fitted on the front of my MK1 a few weeks ago. Ever since it feels like the abs is kicking in when I brake under 20 mph. I thought it might be the abs sensor so I bought and fitted a new one. I tried pulling it out a little but the abs warning light comes on and goes off when I push it back in. I checked the ring to see if there were any missing bits but that's fine too.

I had the bearing replaced on the other side a few previous and that one is fine!

Any thoughts? The brakes still work it's just getting annoying now.

Thanks

Dan

Have you had it hooked up to VCDS? Faultcodes or live reading when braking at <20mph may shed some light on what is happening. Alternatively, take it back to the place that fitted the bearing to have the abs and brakes checked.

I dont know anyone with a vcds. I contacted a couple of guys off here but to no avail.

I spoke to the mechanic that did it but he has no idea. It doesn't help that he's my brother and we did it after hours!

Look further afield on the VCDS map. I was near Loch Lomond last week and the nearest two VCDS owners had not been on for a month. I found Lennie near Ayr who was very helpful. When you look at the VCDS map check when they were last on.

Good luck.
