VRS tdi to Sportline tsi (company car)?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Looks like it about time to get new company car - budget may just reach to karoq sportline 1.5 tsi dsg. I'd be coming from a 2014 tdi vrs dsg, which is now using a lot of oil with 127k on the clock hence the company are not willing to invest in it too much further.

Just looking at some general thoughts and opinions;

  •  the 1.5 / 4x4 / dsg, reading the 'jumpy' issues - for me financial the risk is low, more annoying if there's issues, as it company car but is this a major issue now? In our golf i find the 7 speed dsg very good but thats twice the power of the 1.5 tsi.
  • Swapping tdi to tsi - company pays most of the fuel for my circa 30K+ miles per year so mpg isn't a biggy but obviously power/torque is different and i do like how the tdi goes on the motorway, has anyone made any longer term comparisons? We've got the golf R for weekend/2nd car, so i'm almost happy to have a more subtle/relaxed power figure.
  • Sportline options - specs seem pretty good as standard but i'd like the virtual cockpit, adaptive cruise is critical. Are there any other must haves - is canton necessary (the vrs has canton, and it was better than the standard but isn't fantastic), i'd hope the standard skoda set up is better 5 years on?

Any other thoughts? cheers

I went from a 2.0 Tdi Octavia Estate SE Business Tech to the 1.5Tsi Karoq SE Tech.

The Tdi of course has a lot more mid range grunt but the Tsi is quieter, much quieter and when you are doing lots of miles quiet counts for a lot (at least to me)

The Kangaroo for me is a right royal pain as I live in a area with speedbumps and 20mph zones, once on the motorway the car is really good...first time I'd had adaptive cruise control which was a little unnerving at first when the car starting slowing down by itself :o I do hope they fix the issue as I'd like mine back, my car is still stuck at Skoda and I'm in a Tiguan hire car.

The 1.5 if they can get it right is a great company car choice, BIK is 5k v 10k for the 2.0TDI Tiguan.

The disadvantage of the Sportline is that you can't choose the heated steering wheel. I would like the 2.0 TSI engine, but I think that I would still choose the 2.0 TDi 150 CP because of the more configurantion options.

I think a 1.5tsi sportline would feel slow compared to the VRS tdi.  Less power, less torque, and a bit more weight.  Only you can decide if that's a problem.  I guess the 2.0tsi would be comparable performance.
