SKODA RAPID engine heat issues after 9600 Kms

Featured Replies

1.      Why my car started showing temperature, after running 9600 Kms.

2.      I drove my car in hot summer last year continuously for 200 Kms, but no temperature was displayed on dash board.

3.      Why the temperature reading stagnates at 90C, what happens to the vehicle / engine, if it crosses 90C.

4.      I am unable to drive the car with peace / sound mind, since the temperature display started in my dashboard.

How to fix this issue and bring back the vehicle to normal mode.

Welcome.

What engine does your car have a petrol or diesel?

Not that it matters.

(Other than 1.4TDI 3 Cylinder cars might be due a Coolant Change under a 'Service Campaign / Recall action)

I have no idea why you had no Temperature for the Coolant show last year.  Has the car been serviced, had a software update, or you just selected some other setting on the car?

It should be available on a Gauge and the coolant when up to temp should display about 90*oC.

If it rises the Radiator / Fan is supposed to bring the Coolant Temp back down.

If you have the Oil Temp display enabled then the oil gets to around 90-92*oC to be efficient, and when it rises it is the Coolants job to assist in cooling the Oil back down to near the 90*oC temp.

Oil is also a Coolant (as the Pink Liquid Coolant / Anti-Freeze / Rust Inhibitor is)

3. All VAG cars work like this - the temperature gauge shows 90 Celsius for a wide range of actual temperatures that VAG say are OK, only when it is outside of this range will the gauge show the actual value. They say it's to stop owners worrying!!!

I think you've just selected something on the Multi-function display that wasn't there before.

My default is MPH but it can display Water Temp, Oil Temp, Fuel consumption, etc. as I choose.

The thermostat keeps the water temp at 90C or 194F, That is the normal operating water temperature.

On most VAG models the gauge reads 90c for an actual temp between 75~107c
