New Carpet Disaster

Featured Replies

Got my new dark grey carpets fitted today, what a crap job they made of it.

A chunk out of the cupholder, gouges out of the centre console where it joins the dash, bits of trim not fitted back together correctly and greasy handprints all over the place. There are also no posts in the carpet to hold the mats in place (could a non vrs owner confirm if their carpets have these).

Worst of all when I drove out of the garage the accelerator was sticking, revs all over the place. Took it back and they attacked the new carpet with a pair of pliers.

On a positive note the new carpets look great, but a big :thumbdwn: to the stealer.

Waiting now for them to book the car back in to get half the trim replaced, not handy, I work from 0730 til 1730 so its a nightmare finding time to get work done.

Cheers for the response guys.

Workshop manager says they will fit mat posts, don't know if these will be retro fitted to these carpets or another new set of carpets will be required.

No new carpet required - mats come supplied with screw posts - they are fitted at dealership by screwing into the carpet at the desired position. If they are not fitted to your drivers side the mat its a safety issue as map could slip and foul control pedals.

They come with the mats i think as I didn't have any, got the mats fitted by the dealer at first service and they just screwed them in.

I now have mat binding posts

EDIT: Ooops didn't see post above, oh well
