SD card

Featured Replies

Real dunce here - l know where the SD card can be inserted BUT completely in the dark about what l might want to use it for! And also do l need a particular type of SD card?
Would be very grateful of a plain and simple explanation or a link to where l can find a Dummy's guide to the above info!
Thank you for reading and look forward to you sharing your knowledge with me

You can put music on the SD card and play that from the radio interface.

Theres also a few threads about radio logos. You can store the logos on the SD card and there should be guides around with a bit of searching as to how to apply them to stored radio stations. :)

Note that not only does it play MP3 formst, but you can play quality flac format too. Happy listening.

Hi Benz3ne thank you for that - at present the radio logos don't mean anything to me but good to know l can download some music to a SD card.

As you know what's what, do l have to buy a Skoda card? And also as l only use SD cards in my phone and occasionally use one in a card reader to trf stuff to my computer- when using it in the car- do l just push the SD card into the 'slot'???

Told you l was a dunce!!

Thank you- will now try and find out what "flac" format is.

Great to know that people are helping!!

Cheers xx

Flac is a lossless compression format, unlike MP3 which loses some quality. With one of the many free utilities you can install on your PC or laptop, you can convert all your CDs into a lossless digital format and move onto a SD card. Plug the SD card into your car system and play!

The handbook advises using full size SD cards and not the micro card with carrier. Use mine for music which I ripped from cd. These can be put on card in albums and I have added artwork to each album Joe

Thanks for that Joe l couldn't find any help in the handbook, but thete again l probably didn't look very thoroughly.

So you just 'push' the card into the slot? Now you've told me l can understand l need a full size card. Have you used any other than the Skoda brand?

Thanks again xx

For the last 3 yrs I have been using an 8GB San Disk Ultra I don't think I have half filled it yet. Have used the app  Album art downloader to add cd artwork to music folders this shows up on the screen when running the files on the radio. Joe

Thanks - that gives me some more useful information!

I rather fancy the Album Art downloader - have looked on my phone and found quite a few apps that offer that so will give them a try. Really fancy having the artwork on screen. As you can tell this is completely new to me and up to now l have not had a happy experience trying to listen to my music in the car.

Also good to know l don't have to have a Skoda card and can shop around, although l once bought one off e-bay that proved to be counterfeit and wasted nearly a week trying to trf stuff onto it!!

Best regards

New to the forum - just bought our first Fabia (2017, under 7,000 miles, one previous owner) - and thought I would share that I have had no problem playing my MP3s off a 64GB microSD card in an SD holder. But I will admit to struggling a bit to insert the thing (use the flashlight on my iPhone).

Appreciating the Fabia and this form already.
