1.2 TSI excessive oil consumption

Featured Replies

Hi all, allow me to preface this by saying I've not actually got an Octavia but a Seat Leon, but given they're the same engines and all the decent technical advice seems to be on this forum rather than the Seat ones I thought I'd ask here too.

I took my 2013 Leon SE with the 1.2 TSI engine to Manchester 2 weeks ago and on the way home the check oil level light pinged on, I came off at the nearest petrol station and waiting about an hour for everything to settle and dipped it only find the stick dry as a bone, so I bought some oil, topped it up and made my way home. Since then I've checked it everyday before and after going to work on level ground and it's not used a drop but last night I took it for a quick blast down the motorway (roughly 20 miles on the motorway at 70mph) and I checked the oil this morning and it's gone from full to about 1/4 full.

I've just taken the pipe off between the throttle body and turbo (part number 04E145673C) and there's oil inside it, but there's no oil in the throttle body itself but there was a small pool of oil on the turbo side, anybody know if that's a sign of anything?

Does anyone know what could be causing it? It's not puffing out blue smoke and there's no visible leaks anywhere in the engine. The only thing I could think it to be is the main engine seal by the flywheel but that'd probably be making the clutch slip, or it's a turbo seal and it's just firing it straight down the exhaust.

Any help appreciated as always

Sorry I've not got a final answer yet but from everything I've worked out I think it's the turbo, I've bought a new one and once I have it fit I will let you know if it fixed my problem.

Hi I fit the new turbo 2 days ago now and so far there has not been a drop in oil. I noticed that on my old turbo oil was leaking from the inlet side which most likely means it was being pushed through the exhaust side too
