Karoq sportline 190 TSI

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Thinking about getting a karoq for the main family wagon, my wife will be using it mainly. Ive just seen the new sportline in flat grey, and it looks lovely, better than the sister car the vw Tiguan (looks a bit Tonka car to me).

I love the idea of the new fabric, in that it's cooler, but does anyone know what it's like to clean?? I have a 1 year old and another on the way.

I'm tempted with the 190 tsi on the basis that when it's out of warranty I can map it to GTi levels and downgrade it to be my own car! The wife can have something else. However, 190 seems more than enough for most applications, what's it like to drive?

Any input or thoughts opinions on this car? Options list seems long...longer than I expected anyway, anything absolutely worth having?

Cheers

Dempsey

Nice one smert! Look forward to your first thoughts :) congrats on the car

Had my 190 TSI Sportline for a few days now, and I'm certainly impressed. It's quick, but not fast, as you'd expect. It makes for a good drive, with no particular shortage of power. I've done 700+ miles so far on a full spectrum of roads (including motorways, A roads, back roads, farm tracks, and even the "Evo Triangle" in Wales), and I'm impressed in all regards really.

I have the Canton system and the Digital cockpit as options and am pleased with both, but obviously can't offer any meaningful comparison against not having them! I certainly don't regret speccing them at this point.

One thing I'd comment on is that I was not prepared for the simulated cabin engine noise. In extensive research I'd never read about this or seen it on a spec sheet. Very odd that in Normal mode, the car makes more engine noise than it needs to. Further note is that the power steering in the Normal setting is light, vague and over assisted. Switch to Sport and it's fine.

I have no children, and have not got the seats dirty, so can't comment on that, I'm afraid. Seats were comfortable on an 8 hour day's drive yesterday, so that's a pretty fair test!

Ill refer back to a post a while back on my view of the 2.0:

Any pics? Is it guzzling petrol?

Coming from a diesel vrs octavia so hoping it’s about as quick as that?

I'll sort some pics out at the weekend, when I take it to Scotland...

Averaging about 28-29mpg after 1000 miles at the moment, but my commute is mostly A and B roads, I've had comparatively little motorway driving, and frankly, I've been leathering it.

I think I got mid 30s on a motorway run last week.

Never driven a diesel vRS. I would assume it's comparable to the diesel 4x4 one, as that should even out the weight and driveline. I would also assume that the diesel vRS would overtake better, due to the torque. It does feel quick off the line up to 60 and beyond, I must admit, but then I came from a diesel Evoque, and have a Defender for weekends, so anything would be a speed improvement to me.

It's definitely a "brisk skoda" not a rapid one, but that is after all what the forum is all about...

Picked it up yesterday. It’s absolutely great so far. In Sport mode it’s pretty responsive. It’s agile for an suv. I’m loving darting about. Would recommend !!

Let me know if you want to know any specifics!

I can't see from your profile where you're based, but if in the UK, and especially if up North then I'd recommend the heated windscreen.

Other than that the spare wheel is a must for me, especially with kids in the car. Don't fancy being stranded.

The running boards look great, are brilliant for the kids, but pricey.

I'm surprised Columbus and KESSY aren't standard on the SportLine.

Mine came with KESSY, and I didn't add it as an option.
