Stalling at roundabouts

Featured Replies

Hi guys had my Superb 2.0 TDI 150 for just over a week.

I seem to keep stalling a roundabouts when approaching at caution.

when car is still running at a slow speed I go into second gear and take off and car stalls, a dip of the clutch it starts, by which time your out on the roundabout.

My previous diesel car never done this and it was only a 1.6 CRDI.

Its as if there is no power torque at the low end but was the complete opposite to my previous diesel car.

Any thoughts?

I had a similar problem when first using my wife's Superb - I think it because the gearing is rather on the high side, which of course helps improve the fuel economy.

Stop start system Cutting in perhaps it does happen early while still rolling

I’ve got the stop start switch off.

I had the same problem for the first couple of weeks - it stalled in 2nd gear maybe 5 or 6 times in that period, just as you described, when revs get low. TDI 150, start-stop off from day one. When stalled, it would automatically start up again in seconds. Previously I drove petrol Octavia and it seems that I just had to get used to new engine. Or maybe engine had to get used to me- they are getting smarter every day... Now, after couple of months of owning it, it doesn't happen at all. Hope it helps...

Did you switch it off permanently via VCDS or OBDEleven by changing the battery voltage?

I just press the button at the gear stick every time I start the car.

Ah ok. I was just checking my first thought; but you’re obviously aware turning it off via the button isn’t a persistent change.
