Ode to the Greenline

Featured Replies

So I managed to break the 90mpg barrier on a single long run (60 miles) over the Easter holidays and squeezed 816 miles on a tank with mixed driving.

This involved some VERY careful driving but hey, it shows how economical these huge cars can be.

I think a lot of it comes down to excellent aerodynamics with the Superb Greenline, it just sails along at speed.

Mine is remapped so i think the extra torque is helping..

Could 100mpg be done on a long run? Not so sure!!!

Any brim to brim figures ?

Not sure how accurate the Maxidot is on yours. Both my Octy2 and S2 are out. On paper I get 20mpg and 10mpg less respectively. Even with that I know 816 miles is amazing from a Superb 62 litre tank. Would love to come close I get about 600 miles from a DSG 170 with 40 miles to spare and I don’t drive slow.

My maxi dot is pretty accurate.

Brim to brim in getting in 58 litres consistently. 816 miles using 58 litres of diesel were looking at around 62 mpg ish which is bang on what the maxidot is saying.

62 is indeed very good

A MK 2 Superb 1.6d won a big (cross Australia) mpg challenge. The Australians wryly noted that while Skoda was boating all about it, they didn't even sell the 1.6d in Australia....

Happy days. As I said though, it's not easy, especially if you're actually in a rush to be somewhere!!

A tank of brisk driving and it's down to mid 50's.
