Maybe a silly question

But what is this little handle thing that's between the front seat in the armrest. It pulls up and down but doesn't actually do anything?

Has me baffled

Ah like the glovebox, thank you makes sense now 

I asked the exact same question about 2 weeks ago, just after i'd bought my mk2

 

id found it dyring the test drive and nose around, couldnt figure out anything that made sense for it other than.. maybe there was an aux input there thats fallen through?
