Are heat shield mounting posts replaceable?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if the mounting posts for the exhaust heat shields are replaceable or not? I have a loose and rattling heat shield due to the fixings having corroded and fallen out, but the posts are also corroded and won't be any use as-is to fasten down to again. Can they be replaced?

The posts are not listed in the parts listings they are shown as part of the floor pans

Nope, Skoda garage who looked at mine when it was in for summat else said that general advice was screw through the floorpan and seal it up!

Nope the aren't but I've managed to fix rattling heatshields to rusting posts using solid disk rubber cable grommits...   The heavy duty rubber type that are generally used to protect electrical wiring where it enters metal wiring boxes.

Make a small slit in the grommet an they can be pushed onto the rusted posts and then the sides of the slit pushed in tight with a screwdriver.  So far they've worked successfully for about a year.
