Service reset

Featured Replies

Hello, had my car serviced Friday but they not reset the service reminder,  was due to expire today so now when i put the keys in i get the inspection light flashing then the spanner. I've done it myself on previous cars in the past. Does anybody know the method on how to reset it please? Car is a 63 plate Skoda Fabia, thanks in advance.

For MK  it's ( ONLY FOR FIXED SERVICE

ignition OFF.,then press & hold trip reset. Ignition on and hold button for 10 seconds and service display will reset.

For extended service- it's ignition off, press & hold trip distance reset. Switch on and release trip. Turn reset to right. All counters are reset.

But from info on here ,no MK1 EVER HAD EXTENDED SERVICE.

With the MK2 it makes a difference if it was / is on Variable Servicing or Fixed.

End of stalk rocker switch and little button at bottom of stalk.

If on fixed go into the Maxidot menu and Service, and select and then when asked if you want to change do so to '9400 miles / 372 days'.

I have scoured this site for and tried all the service reset methods and failed. Even weird one like putting on hazard flashers. Does anyone know a cheap OBD2 scanner that will turn off the service now message and that little spanner.

Car is an 1.9tdi 2009.

I know Carista does, you plug in the OBD port and sync to the app then you can reset the service indicator. I did it on my 2013 Fabia because the garage forgot to reset it after a service.

For the benefit of earlier Mk2 fabia owners without maxidot.....

Did my 2009 fabia today ( I.e. basic dash - no maxidot - single trip reset/clock adjust button.....later fabias have 2 button dash)

It had the service spanner symbol on, on the LCD and "INSP" flashing for  a while when ignition is switched on accompanied by a single beep . This is the Inspection service (aka major service) reminder as opposed to the oil service (aka minor service) reminder when it flashes "OIL" instead.

From memory... 1st, make sure you are in the car with doors closed, press and hold the trip button, turn on ignition (don't start the engine!)... still holding the trip button pressed, the display will show mileage remaining to service (minus figure if overdue) then after several seconds the display shows the time in days to service (minus if overdue), release the trip button and then gently twist the button clockwise (as you would if adjusting the minutes setting on the clock) and release. Switch off the ignition.

That should reset the OIL (minor) service.

If you have INSP flashing, then repeat the procedure, but first turn on the hazard warning lights, before you press/hold the trip button and then turn on the ignition.....etc as above. That will reset the INSP reminder.

It always takes me 2 or 3 attempts before I get it right (forgot about the hazard warning lights for INSP today....)

Hope that works for you.

Note you can only reset this way if the spanner symbol/service reminder is showing.

I used to use the carista OBD2 block and app to reset both but the method above posted by xman worked a treat for me as I had looked at various YouTube posts but none mentioned the hazard light method which sorted my issue out.

Hello everyone

Last year, having enough of the oil and service due reminders (although the car only drove 4k km since last service/oil change, I've managed to switch off the reminder (not to reset, but to switch off). Since then, the annoying reminder stopped, but together with it I've also lost the info regarding the next service. I've tried to remember the procedure (so I can reverse it), I've checked both Google and YT, but.... no success. Can you please help me with this procedure? Once again, not to reset the service/oil change, but to witch on and off this info.

Thanks in advance!

P.S.: The car in discussion is a Fabia MkII, 2008, 1.4i HTP

The service reminder on these cars is on a mileage/time, whichever comes first basis.
