Hi all, some advice please, 

 

2015 Octavia VRS TDI DSG, 44k at accelerating and driving along, any amount of pedal action and the engine noise has two sounds, the first is a high tappet like sound which sounds a bit like a knackered van, then the normal TDI sound, my question is... has anyone else experienced this? And is the likelihood that the noise is the Hydraulic Lifters or caps? 

 

Advice most appreciated, along with an idea of costing if possible and can the job be done at home or does it need a garage to do it?

Have never had any problems with hydraulic lifters or caps on VAG diesels that I have owned but would start by checking the oil pressure and condition of the oil but the noise my be coming from somewhere else.
