Emissions Fault warning P0183 Fuel Temp

Featured Replies

Hello Briskodians

New fault on my trusty 235k Octy 1.9 105 pre FL manual 2005.

Car came back from oil and filter and fuel filter change at Skoda. Seemed ok when I moved it from the drive to the pavement. Brother borrowed it in the evening and Maxidot warning emissions fault and EML light permanently lit. Car drives like before. It does have a heasitation issue but never thrown a warning till now.

VCDS scan shown. Cleared faults and not returned on a local trip.

A google shows Fuel temp sensor near the engine block close to the dip stick close to the oil filter housing. I wonder if the dealer disturbed something there?

Anyone experience of this?

I thought I updated this thread an hour ago seems it’s lost. Not had much time this weekend. Been away from home a lot.

Opened the bonnet and found this (as picture)

I believe the sensor cable has been trapped in the filter housing during the service on Friday. I was going to leave it for tomorrow then bro turned up again to borrow it. I went to find the earlier cleared EML had come back too. Got the filter wrench out and tried to loosen it not realised the wire/loom was being dragged around. Held the cable and loosened more and wire is now free. Tightened the housing again and cleared the error with VCDS. Car gone for the night. Let’s see if there is any permanent damage. Maybe require a loom replacement if it persists.

The loom could be repaired very easily, if it’s damaged I would just solder in a  New piece and heatshrink up.

Terrible service from Skoda though, must have been in a real rush to do that.

Quick update. The issue came back the next day. Informed Skoda on the feedback from receptionist. I got nothing back by the Tuesday. Made a call to the service department and informed them of the issue and the email I had sent. Turns out I was speaking to the service manager who provided an apologetic response and asked me to forward the email to him.

Once he came back he offered to collect the car and review. Given some limitations from his end and mine, it ended up being a week later which was best for both of us.

Car collected loom assumed to be repaired and yellow tape over the loom cover too. Invoice provided with zero charge. I was told loom repaired and the sensor was fully operational.

The funniest thing is the EML stayed on for just over 300 miles. I filled it with VPOWER as a treat the day before collection checked the oil fiddled with the engine cover(foam falling to bits) started the car EML gone and Maxidot warning. This was the case the next day when collected and taken to the dealer.

So all in all a good solution to the problem caused during service.

Car has done a couple of 200 mile round trips and no issues since.
