Leaky headlight

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

My drivers side bi xenon stopped working. Changed the bulb, nothing. Whipped out the ballast and it was full of water.

Replaced the ballast and all was good....well until it rained again.

Is the a weak part that fails to stop water getting it?

I cant be buying new ballasts every week. Short of buying a new headlight im not sure what to do.

Has anyone else experienced this?

If i do buy a new lamp does it specifically have to be for right hand drive or are they just standard and the lcu is set to rhd?

Sorry to bombard you with questions. Just hoping for some info as ive trawled through the site and can only find bits on light misting/condensation

Yes - you need to buy a RHD headlight for a RHD car otherwise the cutoff will be incorrect :)

Not too sure where the leak tends to come from, at a guess I'd expect it's the seal between the ballast and headlight or damage to the headlight allowing water in that then pools around the ballast connector.

When i fitted the new ballast i made sure the connection and the seal was tight. I think the water is pooling in the headlight and going throught the pins from the headlight to the ballast. I just cant see how water is getting in
