HELP Alpine headunit

Featured Replies

Hi All :)

Just speant the morning putting my alpine headunit into my fabia :) Its looking good (tightfit with all the cables!). My problem is that Im loosing the programmed stations when taking out key. Its connected using the bluespot adapter so thought it should be ok? Is there anyway i can disable it from the ignition loop so can be on anytime i want?

Cheers all :)

Andy

Andy... share my pain...

Now fixed though...

After much messing around with a multi meter by myself you have the following options...

1. Don't use the bluespot at all and have full memory with no ignition live.(ISO to ISO) You will have to switch the unit off and on manually from the ignition though (this sounds like the preferred choice for you and is no bad thing... it may be exactly what you're after)

2. Butcher the bluespot's permanent feed wire to the iso's permanent memory wire to give memory and ignition switched power (this is what I wanted)... (under normal wiring the bluespot bypasses the Alpines permanent power wire resulting in loss of memory as experienced.)

My preference was to go for the head unit turning off with the ignition (only cause its more factory)... I don't think you can ever have the best of both worlds... i.e manual off and on with ignition switched.

Pictures speak a thousand words... If I had not lent my mate the digital camera for the weekend then I would take some snaps of how I finally wired mine up.

If the above doesn't make sense and you need clarification then please shout. (I will pull my unit out again and look if nescessary)

Update to my problem! Cheers for the reply stathap :) BUT.... LOL Ive tried hooking it up without the adapter (bluespot) and it works fine just no radio reception.... So i need the ariel booster part....

Looking at the adapter all it appears to do is switch the 12v memory and the 12v ignition the other way round from the way that the alpine is wired up!(and add an additional "illumination" cable....

Hope this makes sence as my electronic knowledge aint that good but want to learn!

Cheers

Andy

As you say andy .... it's all wire to wire and isn't rocket science !

I didn't have any radio reception probs and completely binned the "amplifier" bit of the bluespot

Sounds like you don't have a worry now anyway ?? =>

If it pleases you... Sounds spotty dog to me !

Think you know what I was on about before I did after I never knew before I had a clue prior to yeah... after I read it anyway !!!

Had two services now (octy RS... Alpine fitted before 1000 miles) with no diagnostic tool complaints from skoda about the k-wire "vortex" bobbins thingy...

Skoda-uk have never had to disconnect the cdm-7892r prior to service

From what I can work out and the wiring diagrams I have seen, the Alpine doesn't cause any diagnostic problem.

Turn it up !
