shuddering on idle

Featured Replies

well ive had my oct vrs 7 weeks now and all seems well the usual niggles like the boot dripping in the car when wet and the sqeeking going over speed humps* (probably arb's the dealer said all they could hear was my mobile holder rattling cars done 31,000)

i do have a question though when idling i get a shudder through the car every so often, then it stops then its back again it feels the same as my old nail the vectra when the idle control valve was knackered except the rs does stall like the nail used to i'm idiling at about 700 rpm is this right

if i could get bloody vag com i could check the idle speed exactly (well i think i can right)

any ideas your the experts

*which i already knew could happen thanks to you guys

Mine shudders on idle occasionally too - no idea what causes it though.

As for the idle speed - mine idles around 750rpm which I originally thought was low, but AFAIK it is almost bang on spec.

Sounds like a throttle body fault to be, more than likey got a 17705 fault logged in there aswell.

i did the reset on the throttle body as i saw on the forum would this help also i fiitted a green panel filter and it seemed to cure it for a day or so

According to Autodata CD2, idling speed is 760±100rpm and is not adjustable.

Damn, got there before me. Throttle body would be a good start for the shuddering.

My ARB bushes went at about 30k and it did take the dealer a few test drives (I had to go with them to point out the sound) to find the problem.
