Set speed limiter as default

Featured Replies

I’ve got a Karoq 2.0L SE-L 4x4 manual, the speed adjust and speed limiter are switched on by the left control arm rocker and then select mode by using the right steering wheel to select wether cruise or limiter, however cruise is always by default then have to manually switch to limiter, if I change to limiter it stays selected until ignition off, then when turned back on goes back to cruise.

Any way to set speed limiter as the default when switching it on for the left control arm rocker? It’s a bit annoying to have to select limiter every time when ignition is first on.

AFAIK there is no way to set is as default. I also found it very annoying, It is difficult to go to drive assist menu every time I start the car and select speed limiter. Also putting the speed control buttons on indicator stalk is a genius(!) decision. I accidentally signal all the time.

I agree there's no way to have the speed limiter set by default rather than the cruise control - unless there's a way of reprogramming the software somehow.

As I find it very convenient to use the speed control rather than the cruise control on most roads I just have a routine of leaving the cruise control / speed limiter enabled, then selecting the speed limiter on the assist menu as soon as I start the engine, and set the required speed as soon as I reach 30 mph. On my car, I have a second lefthand stalk below the indicator stalk to control the CC/SL, but at times I still flick the indicators by mistake when I'm changing the speed limit.

I have used cuise control, particularly when in a speed restricted zone, although speed limiter is probably more appropriate - I have not learnt the faff to engage it.

When speed limiter is active, and if for some reason there is a need to accelerate in an emergency, is there an intuitive way to dissengage it very quickly?

Yes there is - put your foot hard down on the throttle and it will over-ride the limiter.

Or push the activation stalk away from you.

Or if it's just to overtake safely (if temporarily illegally) flick the control stalk several times as that lifts the speed set by 5 mph for each flick.
