Help making Remap choice

Featured Replies

I have a bit of a headache due to my choice of remaps!

The 03 vRS currently has a Blueflame full system with a 100cell sports cat.

I have a Carbonio CAI ready to fit, and want to purchase a DV, TIP ( jabba said don't bother on that part though ) before giving the engine a rest.

Now my options are:

1) Travel 6hrs+ to Jabba and having to stay a night there, and fitting a DV, Boost Controller and a custome remap which I belive should see around 230bhp if I'm correct? (

If you want the Jabba map...PM Flatfourburble and he may be able to put you on the last remap gb we did....10% discount off the normal price.

You will also get a 5% discount off the DV and boost controller for being a BRISKODA member.

Hi Mate

Yes you can go straight in for the Stage 2.

The DV`s we have on offer at the moment at £64.40+ VAT

TIP`s are £85.00 + VAT from us but not necissary

You would be better thinking about a FMIC to have the Stage 2 though.

If I can help you further just give me a shout and I will help you.

My number is 0161 7760777

Any thoughts guys? I'm just looking for the best overall deal and peace of mind for the next few years of motoring.

The way I see it is if you have a problem with the car, driving/towing it hundreds of miles back to the tuner isn't particularly practical!

Would anyone have a rough estimate of what both the maps would produce in terms of bhp and tourque?

Many thanks Sarah for the quick reply! What would the custom stage 2 cost? I am only ever going to run Optimax or possibly Tesco 99ron on the car so dont need any different settings there, is there a on/off option for the map?

Sadly I don't have £1000 for a FMIC, neither will I be looking to spend that amount in the future.

FMIC isnt essential, it just helps maintain the power when it or the cars hot, its def worth having if you can afford it though

Ive heard of a few people fitting s/hand coolers out of pranged cars & with the amount of space under the Octy bonnet that seems feasable, all you need then is someone to make a custom set of hoses. I have been told that Saabs make good donor cars.

If you want a cooler I might know where theres a s/hand one, the guy who bought mine just might be going for a bigger one as part of his tuning plans.

PM me if you are interested & I will ask the question

Hi Mate

We have the APR on offer at the moment so the Stage 2 would be £499.00 + VAT

This is only until the end of March.

But if you could book it in straight away we would hold that price for a couple of weeks

Sarah

Go for the remapper that is closest to you. They will all rpoduce pretty much the same result.

They are in real world down a straight about the same, i.e. at the end in my tests when I had APR and a friend identical car had Jabba, we could look at each other through the side windows up to 100 ish.

APR is smooth, if you want the very funky switching then you need cruise control, but then thats no bad thing to have anyway. But you don't need cruise to have a remap....as was once a common view with APR.

There are other options, including REVO or going north to Scotland, not sure where you actually are though, a few tuners will come to you.

Most maps are similar if not in origin in end results. What matters is your happy, I will give up 2 or 3 bhp for ease and peace of mind, and QOS...

I'm based in North Wales, so Manchester is always going to be the nearest option.

As it seems theres no 'reason' to travel too Jabba I might as well take up the special offer thats currenlty on the APR Stage II @ Awesome and get it done as soon as they have a slot open for me.

One other question, if I never use anything but Optimax and have no need for Cruise Control there's no other options I need to think about is there?

Am I right in thinking I should be looking at around 225bhp ( full blueflame system DV, Carbonio CAI ).

Sadly I don't have

Sorry, but WTF?!?

Why oh why would you pay

The £1000 was going off Jabba price with fitted estimated on top, Awesome also do one around the £750 ball park.

After the remap and DV, I'll be getting a alarm system, years insurance and then sorting out the ICE. The when brakes etc start to go I'll upgrade the brakes and the handling side of the car.

I'm looking more towards the whole package of the car than just all out power, if that was my main aim I would have gone RWD.

No, they're not 'designed specifically' for an Octavia. However, all turbo cars work under the same principle.

A good intercooler will have a low restriction to the flow (or rather, low pressure drop, therefore limiting lag), and good cooling properties.

An IC is not rocket science... bigger the surface area the better, the less pressure drop the better. Simple as really.

I'd imagine the reason the Octy one is expensive is due to the intake/outtake positions, as they're both on the same side.. which is not normal for a universal IC.

However, there's no reason why a different cooler couldn't be fitted and use piping to get it to the other side, similar to this: http://eurotuner.com/howto/p172977_image_large.jpg

In fact I suspect that'd have less of a pressure drop as the air is turning a better corner.

TBH, the forge one looks to me like 2 small intercoolers welded ontop of each other and looped at one end, which I'd have thought from a flow point of view isn't ideal, and wont help lag.

Actually.. here's an idea...

How about a gtir intercooler, with the end tanks modded (common mod, swap one round) and side mounted. Would be ideal for an octy mounting wise, and I saw this car: http://www.roverturbo.net/hosting/zrspec/zrturbo.jpg make 299.8bhp @20psi on the rollers last weekend with one fitted (as seen in pic).

I reckon that's do-able for under

The

Just an example' date=' just trying to point out that with a bit of research not everything has to cost big bucks.

Sorry to drag off topic a bit btw.[/quote']

NOt a problem.

I think the ideal design is the have inlet at top on one side and outlet and the bottom on the other side...but as you saw then are compromised by position of mouting, pipes lengths etc.

Seeing as Awesome won't honour the March remap price as they were closed for stock take, May 11th sees Jabba taking the car!

All in all I would have rather have gone too Jabba but for the travelling, lucky for me the choice was made for me!
