Turbo or non Turbo

Featured Replies

Does my Skoda Fabia 2017 colour clash edition have a turbo fitted??

Maybe?

There are three engines on the Colour Editions. A 1.0 naturally aspirated engine, with 75PS, a turbo version of that engine with 95PS, and a 1.2 turbo with 90PS. The 95PS 1.0 replaced the 1.2 sometime in 2017 I think. The turbos go quite well- the NA engine doesn't.

The naturally aspirated engine says 'MPI' on the top of the engine and the 1.0 TSI has 'TSI' branding on it. The 1.2 TSI doesn't say anything.

TSI is VW Group speak for turbocharged direct injection engines.

Cheers I shall check it out later 👍

Don't forget, there is a TDI too if its diesel. TSI or TDI its a turbo (T being the important part). If its MPI then its naturally aspirated.

If you're unsure, if you post the engine code from the sticker under the boot floor or service manual and it'll be easy to check. Its something like CHYA or CJZC and is in the top section (all begin with C).

cheers!!

I thought the Colour Editions didn't come with the diesel?

At any rate, all the diesels are turbos. There used to be a 2.0 SDI, a non-turbo diesel,  and before that 1.9 SDI, both of which were slow as molasses. In the Polo Mk.4 and Fabia Mk.1 the 1.9 SDI was slower and thirstier than the 1.4 TDI that was also offered, but was cheaper to buy.
