Mk 1 Oil Pump diagram

Featured Replies

Hi can anyone point me to a expanded oil pump diagram please . I am taking it off to clean it up as I have low oil pressure .

I've found a parts diagram for an '06 ALH oil pump here but it doesn't show the pump itself dismantled.

There is a commonly reported problem with the sump oil strainer getting clogged up - which might be a logical place to start given your symptoms.

I don't have my Hayne to hand at the moment, but they normally include a bit about checking the backlash and clearances of the pump rotors, but I doubt you will find an exploded diagram for the pump as they are considered a consumable item.

As said above a blocked pickup strainer is the most common cause for lack of oil

Oil pump

with pressure relief valve 1.2 MPa (12 bar)

before installing, check whether both dowel sleeves for centering the oil pump/cylinder block are inserted

if there is any scoring on the contact surfaces of the gears, replace

Thanks for replies I have had the sump off 5 times to clean the pick up pipe gauze , I run it on veg oil and should had added more diesel when my pre-heater stopped working , the oil turned to jelly. My Mechanic said it might be the pressure release valve stuck open with crud so I wanted to open it up and clean it and was wondering how complex it is inside ?

In that case remove the whole pump unit and soak it in a bath of parrafin or neat diesel and hope the blockage dissolves or just fit a new pump as I doubt you'll find either an internal diagram of the pump or spare parts if you do find a problem, as I said before they are considered a consumable item, if it's not working fit another

12 bar? :o

Thanks will do  , I wanted the diagram to see how the pressure release valve worked . I also wanted to see if there were O rings in there as I was going to pour boiling water through it before opening  it up.

It is 12 bar because it needs to force the oil up to the head & cam.
