2020 Skoda Superb (new clear images)

Also just noticed that autotrader are saying the battery pack will reduce boot space from 625 to 485 for the hatch and 660 to 510 in the estate. Pretty big drop but I guess the batteries have to go somewhere...

Good to see the haven't butchered it like the Octavia facelift, though that Skoda lettering along the boot is awful.

  • Red on the port side, Green on the starboard side.   Skoda finally admitting the Superb is really a barge/supertanker and equipping with obligatory navigation lights.   😲

BMW have (or did have when I last had one) a zero cost option of removing rear badges. I think Skoda are going to need to do the same...

Yes I’m waiting for clarity on when order books will be open and prices revealed. I’ll likely be ordering a 272 sportline combi.

According to Skoda UK today price list is due in June, launch/first orders in July, which would put first deliveries in October with current lead times.

That’s not too long to wait really...!

It is when your lease car is due to go back in August 😞

Luckily VWF are happy to extend it for up to 3 months with no hassle 🙂

I'm not too sure how I feel about KESSY being standard across the range, I've been avoiding it for as long as possible.

I wouldn't take car without kessy again... If someone wants to steal your car kessy or not his job will still be easy. I just tried to open and run car without battery in key today and it works. Alarm did go off, but clicking start button and holding key near Start worked fine. So not even have to worry about that. Its amazing system.

Dealer today has told me FL Superb (ie. 2020 model) won’t be able to order until September and first deliveries possibly by Christmas. Is this everyone else’s understanding?

Doesn't agree with what Skoda UK told me last month. You could always go to their website and ask them via the chat window, that's what I did...

Ian, good suggestion.

Just spoke to them and they say 'I can confirm ordering will be open in September 2019' and 'the first UK deliveries are expected in December 2019'.

Not sure about UK but Ive been using google translate to look on a czech forum and someone said this (thru google translate):
"my car ordered see above 28.5.2019, production 34 KT, vendor confirmed last week of August 2019"

So that would be build week mid august, and perhaps coming to the vendor last week of august (seems delivery times there are really short).

Just to confuse things further, this email has just arrived from Skoda.  Summer is June-August I think...

Seems they think that September is summer in the UK -- most people would disagree...

Well, technically summer ends September 23rd, so they wouldn’t be wrong.

MY20, which i believe the FL Superb will be, will start factory production from August-ish onwards, as is per usual each year for when the model year changes.

ideally we hear from the horse mouth, i.e. Skoda HQ, which build week they're planning to start rolling out the MY20 FL Superb.

when order books open is irrelevant.

So deliveries should start in September...

Could be, might be, who knows, it should be Skoda UK in the UK.

Every year has people guessing.

2019 is not a normal year, it will be another carry on with WLTP / RDE. and then the end of October in the UK Brexit or no Brexit.

Skoda UK could be a lot clearer on Order Books opening, Build Weeks, Delivery times, 'prices' but they never are.

i read in another forum that MY20 cars will be built from wk28, i.e. second week of July.

@JR RS

Was that post by SKODA CZ or by AN Other about MY20 Superb?

Which forum?

Looks like our Czech friends will have MY2020 deliveries starting late August/early September (orders already placed), so why the ~3 month delay for the UK? Does RHD production start later than LHD?

[main reason I care is that delaying my VWFS lease end past November is more difficult, not that I'm desperate to get a shiny new car...]

Also the Skoda UK website now says "Available in showrooms from September 2019", which I assume means demonstrators, which means RHD cars...

Just asked Skoad UK again, they initially said "Delivery for the new cars is expected in December 2019". When I pointed out this didn't agree with what they said a few weeks ago, the reply was:

"We're still waiting for confirmed prices and dates, however, we aim to be able to provide more information within the next few weeks."

I agree that Skoda UK don't seem to have much of a clue -- but maybe that's head office's fault for not telling them anything...

What's annoying is that you *know* that all this information must exist inside Skoda, things like production and delivery schedules are worked out well before a public product launch, but they just can't be arsed to tell their customers... 😞

I suppose they know how many can be built each day, can guess at the proportions of each spec and options from historic trends.

Let’s say build 1000 per day (just to keep numbers simple) and think initial demand is around 1100 across Europe and another 100 per day in UK (which will fall to 900 and 90 after 2 months) Which are easier to sell for first 2 months, those for Europe, or those that may be caught up in a no deal crashed out Brexit.  In this scenario do you delay the UK allocation 2-3 months.

What I’m trying to say is our current Government antics may be pushing UK to back of queue.  If you were Skoda UK would you give a vague answer or tell it bluntly if this is not too far from reality?

Though I'd love to blame Brexit, I don't think it will stop Skoda selling cars here, it might just put the price up and add extra paperwork -- which might reduce sales a bit, but not stop them entirely.

It's possible that they'll bring up the new model first with more popular LHD models, and then introduce less popular RHD ones a bit later. Which is still no excuse for them not telling us, they'd certainly know they were going to do this because they have to order handed parts (like dashboards) well in advance of production...
