Fabia comfort 6Y2 engine timing chain tensioner.

Featured Replies

Hi all.

my sons Fabia’s Timing chain tensioner would appear to have stopped applying tension. I know that they are a hydraulic tensioner using the oil pressure to work. The car still runs albeit very lumpy at tick over as it has probably jumped a tooth and you can hear the chain hitting the timing cover. It still drives surprisingly well when the chain is under tension due the increased revs.

My son will be going in the Army in October and so we need to limp it along until then.

Is is it possible to access or remove the tensioner without stripping the whole timing set up? Or any other suggestions? There is not a lot of sense in spending a lot of money on a 2004 car.

Many thanks.
