2015 Mk3 Octavia Bolero Infotainment system intermittent display etc

Featured Replies

Dear all, about three weeks ago I finally had a Westfalia tow hitch and dedicated electrics with coding fitted to my 2015 Mk3  Octavia 2.0 TDI .  A few days ago an amber 'Error Airbag' light appeared on the instrument panel.  I was assured that the safety system had not been disabled but that I should visit my local dealer to have the system checked.  All well and good thus far.  Within a few miles the Bolero Display started flickering and scrolling randomly.  This stopped if I thumped the side of the dashboard by the glove box (Remember valve tv's?)  But returned randomly.

I am wondering if these problems have developed as a result of the tow hitch and wiring installation, perhaps some connectors have become loose?

The car is booked into Mitchells of Chester for an investigation - Followed maybe by a visit to Chester Towbar and Trailer Centre!

Any thoughts please?  Can I save myself a day out to Mitchells by a bit of DIY?

Cheers

Alan

It's possible they disturbed the seat airbag connection plug under the seat if they routed the cabling that way ...... although normally it would have gone down by the sill.

Hi, sorry it has taken so long to reply - the airbag light was due to an offside rear door crash sensor failure, the flickering infotainment display was 'Just' a loose video cable connection.  Both problems were repaired under warranty.  Thanks, Alan
