Engine swap

Featured Replies

Hey guys greetings to all from the skoda family. I have a skoda octavia(Laura) mk2 with 1.8 tsi engine.

Now the engine is a blast to drive and i love the car even with its flaws n reliability issues.

Browsing the forums i found out that the 1.8tsi has a lingering piston rung wear issue and cam chain tensioner issue and as i boughth the car used i dont know if the previous owner has taken care of it or no.

But since i love my car n would like to keep it i have a few questions and would b glad if u guys can help me.

I am aware that the CDAA code engine that is in my car is turbocharged and can be modded easily so i would like to ask that if the engine eventually conks off on me then is it possible i can change the piston n crank size to make it a 2.0tsi. I am led to believe its the same block with just the stroke if the 1.8 being small so if i am supposed to spend a bomb to remake the engine then is it a good idea to make it a 2.0.

Or if i want to go wild and source a 3.6 vr6 engine from a skoda superb then is it possible to replace my 1.8 tsi for a NA 3.6 vr6.

Thank u in advance for your time n patience.
