Columbus 2019/2020 Map Update

Featured Replies

Thanks for that, download in progress - hopefully they have finally added the new roads near me

Just completed the installation of the 2019/2020 map software, and once again I can assure everyone that you do not need to have the car or infotainment system powered up for the upload, as I wrote in Dec 2018. I watched the first 10% or so go in, then switched the engine off, locked up, and left it to do it's own thing. At a guess, it would take about 5 hours, as I started it at about 18:00 yesterday, then went to have a look at about 22:00 when it was about 80% complete. Restarting the engine, allowing the Columbus to boot up, shutting the engine down again and locking the car up does no harm whatsoever to the upload process.

Hey Presto, this morning, all the 2019/2020 maps are there, together with the new info version number V03959803TF0177 ECE 2019/2020. The information given on the Skoda update portal is so wrong insomuch that they state that the Columbus must be switched on, and switching the engine off aborts the process - (it does not).

For info, I am using a SanDisk Ultra 32GB 80MB/s card, the same as Silver1011 has just bought - (Kodiaq section).

Upgraded today , took less then 2 hours. All work at the background.

Will taking the SD card already in the car out to update harm the process in any way or do I need to use a completely different one all together?

Assuming the SD Card you're taking out is the same card that you used last time to update the maps then that'll be fine.

When the infotainment system searches for the latest maps it'll check both SD cards / SD card slots, so as long as one of the two SD cards has the new files on it, the car will will find them.

Do you have to use SD or can you use USB drive?

I believe you can use both. For Amundsen, however, the storage device has to remain in the car...

Can I ask those that have done the update a question.  Once it was finished it put up a message something like Update complete and the maps show as 2019/2020 above each country in the list. However if I select "update" it still says there is an update available for 2019/2020 - does this mean it hasn't done it , there is more than one update (MIB1 & 2) or it just sees software updates on the card and doesn't realise they are the same one?

Sorry if this is a daft question but I am confused...

Thanks

Mark
