Airbag Light dashboard - HELP!

Featured Replies

Hi all,

After putting the car through diagnostics I am left with the fault code:

skoda passenger airbag squib short circuit to ground permanent (i think this is the code b100211)

Can anyone shed any light on this?

TIA, Nick

Well there is a warning to us all:

"When short to ground or short to positive is present, DO NOT CLEAR THE DTC as this can cause the airbag to deploy"  !!

I didn't know that!

The connector blocks under the seat are notorious for the solder on the pins failing. Could be that.

The code specifically mentions the squib... do you still think this could be the wiring under the seats?

TIA, Nick

Seems plausible.

I had this happen to our Golf courtesy of some over zealous vacuuming.  The solder had just broken down and my hitting the connecter block with the hose was enough to cause a disconnect and trigger a Passenger Airbag Warning on the MFD.

A quick google suggested it's a common problem on VW group cars and there's an actual 'fix kit' for it though a competent mechanic would just re-solder the pins.  I took mine to our indy specialist and he removed the block and re-soldered it.  He confirmed it's very common and usually mores so in 3dr cars where the front seats are moved back/fore for entry/exit.   Oh and don't mess about with the connector with the battery connected, it can cause the airbag to deploy :).  The connector block is usually bright yellow and you can see the harness under the seat.

I'm not saying that's what your problem is though, just highlighting a common issue that could be a good place to start.

Seems like a good place to check. I'll see what i can find.

Thanks for your help with this. Much appreciated.
