Steering wheel clean

Featured Replies

Hi all, What's the best way to clean the leather steering wheel. I have just replaced mine for a vrs one with paddles and would like to clean it. It feels a little sticky but I do have sweaty hands :)

Does anyone have any good product recommendations I could try?

Cheapest way is with your tongue :tongueout: (that was a joke) but wife likes to clean most dash/steering wheel things with a simple wet wipe and then dry with tissue paper/dry cloth (microfibre).

Use a mild solution of non-bio laundry detergent and water to give the leather a clean, wipe excess with a soft cloth and allow to air dry.

Then use a dedicated leather conditioner to finish.

I’ve used Wonder Wheels Clean and Feed for the last 5 years with no issues (3 of which on a full leather interior). Once you give your wheel an initial wash with water solution then I’d say the apply the Wonder Wheels each time you clean the interior.

Hey

To Clean a leather steering wheel you should need nothing more than some Autoglymn leather cleaner (or an alternative) and some Microfiber cloths

Spray the cloths liberally with cleaner and work your way aorund the wheels rim in all directions.

Rub off with a clean Microfiber

Keep turning the cloth as you go and you should end up with a clean, non sticket, matt looking finish which is exactly what it should be

For the switch gear a cheap makeup brush is one of the best ways to get in the nooks and crannies

I personally wouldn't be to use a conditioner on the leather bits as it can leave it feel it slippy, if you do decide to give it a go then just use a small drop on a Microfiber cloths over the end of a finger and massage in and wipe off any excess

The other alternative is to a leather protection product such as

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Liquiproof-Protector-Waterproof-protection-Handbags/dp/B017PGMOTG

In summer your palms will sweat which contains salt and a protector will form a somewhat barrier so it doesn't seep in and then just clean with a slightly damp Microfiber cloth as part of your weekly cleaning routine

Hope that helps :) ..... maybe utter nonsense
