Internet connection

Featured Replies

Ok so I have an 18 plate Kodiaq 1.9Tdi Sportline.

For the purpose of connecting to Skoda connect etc I put a giff gaff sim in the unit and all workes fine.

In stead of using the stand alone sim can I use the data from my phone for sat nav downloads, news feeds etc?

If so HOW?

Your engine must be over 10 years old if it really is a 1.9Tdi (is it the 148 or 187bhp version)?:tongueout:

I believe you need to set up a "wi-fi hotspot" using your mobile phone, then you need to configure the infotainment system to utilise the hotspot (i.e. your phone data), rather than the SIM card in the glovebox.

From the manual...

Thanks for that.

Still having sort of problems establishing how to connect the car.

Another strange issue i have that I cant find in the handbook.

Top center of the screen there is a little "globe". Logic would say when the globe is white with a 4G next to it all is connected and when it is red there is no internet connection.

Running with a pay as you go sim in the car that I know has run out of data I can get the white globe and it will download a sat nav waypoint that I created on the PC at home.

Just looked at the Rsap details and phone is connected to car but no internet connection even though phone say I have 4G. Put in the now topped up sim in the glovebox and it works fine.  white globe with Lite 4G next to it.

Whilst I am happy the car is somehow connected to the net I would be easier to remove the sim and just have the car use my phone data not having to top up the indipendent sim in the car but it aint playing ball.

I am fairly clued up but it gets very confusing with WLAN, hotspot, dedicated sim connections and which one to choose.

The car has it's own inbuilt pre-paid SIM, it is used to enable the function of the SOS system etc.

I wonder if this can / is also perhaps used for some other functions, that would otherwise be incorporated into the paid-for Skoda Connect?
