Oil Leak necessitating gear box removal....

Featured Replies

Rather surprising to be told yesterday that my 23 month old Superb  2.1 150  as a "known" issue that  means the gearbox has to be removed to inspect where various oil leaks are coming from.

So this is a 16,000 mile car and was in for its first service.

Estimate is 8-10 hours and dealer said its not the first and parts are required to be ordered to resolve.

I hadn't noticed any leaks and the dealer can't be sure whether its the engine seals or gearbox seals or the flywheel or various other things.

So is this a common issue?

Lucky the warranty has a year to run as the bill estimate is huge 😬

Loan car will be provided when they cat fit the car in which won't be until July....

Happened to me. They didn’t say it was a known issue

Quick update. Mine was apparently an oil leak around the flywheel. Flywheel bolts were changed and all resolved. Told its a common issue. Car is 23 months old. Pleased it wasn't as serious as dealer said and restored confidence in longer term ownership.
