remote wire for rns510?

Featured Replies

hello, i installed the amp successfully, but it wont turn on by itself via auto sense, so im looking for help. Which wire is the remote for rns?

It doesn't have one...

There are two pins listed on the pinout list that are not shown as connected on the wiring diagram that might be a switched output ??

9 - Convenience system CAN bus (high)
10 - Convenience system CAN bus (low)
11 - Mute (telephone mode)
12 - Terminal 31
13 - Control signal
14 - Outside actuation
15 - Terminal 30
16 - Terminal 30 - (anti-theft code control signal, „SAFE“)

then how do i wire the LOC to the harness? it doesnt give signal to amp. loc have 2 ground, thats bolted to the housing of the HU. has a +12v. thats tapped into multiconnector 2, pin 15. and has a blue, remote out wire. thats supposed to go to the amp?

You might want to add which LOC you're using? Typically, I'd expect the LOC to provide a remote out that connects to the aftermarket amp.

The RNS-510 doesn't have a remote out as the stock amplifiers are all controlled using CAN-bus to turn them on/off and make DSP changes.

Lot of people seem to use an ignition switched live for the amp which isn't perfect but probably good enough. The most obvious downside would be if you wanted to stop the car but keep listening to the stereo, the RNS-510 would stay on until the key is removed but the amp would turn off with the engine.

Others claim that one of the CD changer pins can be used but none explain exactly which. It might also keep the amp powered up for 5 minutes when the headunit turns off but I have no direct experience.

You can find a pinout for the RNS-510 here and at a guess, I'd check 'CD changer, control line, switched positive' which is 'multi-pin connector 4, pin 10'. I'd definitely suggest using a multimeter to check it looks sensible before connecting to the amp though ;)

wwell i got it working by the auto sense on the loc. but it wont turn off, even after half hour. for now i solved it with a switch, but dont feel that comfortable enough. i got a cheaper loc, called California. can that be the problem, that i took +12v for the loc from

Multi-pin connector 2

15 –  Voltage supply, positive, terminal 30

or should i try reconnect it to the cdchanger pin 10, as you suggested? sadly i cant try with multimeter, as it wont fit to the pins, because it has thick needles. maybe can you suggest which pin is the one that cuts power when the key is removed?

I can't see much about that loc online, are there any adjustments for the auto switch on?

One page mentioned a couple of potentiometers that can be adjusted but it's not clear what they do. Did it come with any instructions 😕

well it only has a +12v cable, 2 ground, and the remote out. plus the speaker wires. they did not come with any instructions though.- the poti on them is to set gain for left, right. the annoying thing is, that my cig lighter is also powered when the key is out.

You could stick a paperclip in the connector to get a reading with the multimeter.

I don't know how much power a loc needs or what the pin can supply, assuming it even works as others have suggested...

For an ignition switched live, most people use a piggy back fuse from an appropriate circuit in the dash fuse box.

i tried with paperclip. none of the pins give out actually 12 volts. only the pin 15, 16, and those are always powered.
