Possibility to change the screen for bolero mib 2 or columbus

Featured Replies

I would like to know if I can change the display to the bolero mib 2 of 8 "or to the columbus without having to change the unit in the glove holder?

if it has to be changed, after that does it need some coding?

My car is skoda octavia 2014 ambition 5e3

screen part number: 5E0035819A

2014 is MIB1 so you will need to replace the glovebox unit and screen if you are looking to upgrade. The screen is literally just a display output and a larger 8" screen won't display correctly on a MIB1 Bolero or Amundsen.

It will need coding, component protection sorting, replacement usb port, and Canton amp if you have Canton sound system.

Doesn't need a new usb port if only using android auto.  Carplay requires it though.

It will be to just use android auto. However that I will have to change the screen and the unit in the glove box, I wanted to leave already prepared for a day later put virtual cockpit. Can you tell me what part numbers I need?

The sound system in the car is standard, I think.

Virtual cockpit will need mib2.5 Columbus I think. If you get the right version on mib2 Columbus some can be upgraded to 2.5 specs. Then the 9.2 screen to go with it. When you fit them the head unit will need component protection removing then coding to your car.

I'm not sure about the VC parts. I think there's stuff that needs to go in the dash aswell. Then more coding.

Not sure on the part numbers but a search on here should give you what you need.

You can also use a MIB2.5 Amundsen for a VC. The Columbus has more features though. If you want to go VC, get the right parts now and save some cash. Various part numbers work, but it has to be a Harman made Columbus. Mine is a MIB2 converted to MIB2.5 spec and works lovely with the 9.2 inch screen and VC.
