Safelock retrofit

Featured Replies

Hello,

On my previous A6 4F I had safelock (deadlock) which stopped larger losses during a break in a couple years back.

My recently purchased (swe-spec) Superb has the PR-code 4I3, ie no safelock.

Looking at the schematics, all the wires should be in place from the door controller to the lock module.

Is it just as simple, to just purchase the correct modules (6V_ 837 015, not A or C), replace them and do the coding?

The parts for this retrofit seems to be £150-ish which is quite reasonable. Labour excluded but it should be quite simple.

Alternatively, one could just add the required motors and gears to the existing modules, but that seems a little less bolt-on.

How widely do they need to be coded? possibly just central convenience?

Best regards,

Martin

This was done partially today (three out of four doors).

The change is easy and instructions can be found on ErWin.

  • Remove door trim;
    • Undo screw under armrest (TX30?)
    • Rotate nut at the bottom 90° (10mm spanner)
    • Remove window controls (removal wedge)
    • Pop the trim off, start at the bottom
    • Undo handle cable
    • Undo connectors
  • Remove plastic panel
  • Remove key lock on drivers door
    • Remove plastic cover
    • Remove two screws. The outer as far as it comes, leave the inner hanging on one thread
  • Remove lock
    • XZN M6 for the two bolts, TX20 for the screw next to the connector

Installing is reverse of removal

Check function before you close the doors or assemble panel.

I did three doors and assorted coding in about 2,5 hours. The first took one hour, later less.

Coding:

All door control modules (42, 52, BB, BC), long coding:

Uncheck byte 2, bit 1 (Safe lock motor NOT installed).

These are not documented for rear door control modules, but I did a lucky guess.

I also unchecked two positions (I'll report these later) for central convenience that were something like "[x] kessy w/o safelock".

Next up will probably be getting parts for antitheft-alarm retrofit. Shouldn't be that hard. I did it on my A6 4F some years ago.

I would however be inclined to disable the "Check safelock" -message on maxidot. Any ideas for this?

Which two positions exactly?
